Giving victims a voice

Giving victims a voice

It might be a phrase you’ve never even heard of. Restorative Justice. It’s something we’ve been learning about this past few months and we’ve been blown away by the work that goes on in Guernsey which, to us, deserves to be publicly recognised. Restorative Justice is all about giving victims a voice. It’s all about [...]

Gary Burgess on becoming a local tourist

Hayley & Lisa GBG June 2011

Where did September come from? The last time I stopped to draw breath I swear it was early January and now the summer’s nearly over. It’s either that I’m extra busy, or I’m simply getting old and life is beginning to pass me by. I know which I’d like it to be… but I suspect [...]

A cup of coffee with…Mike Huston

Ever since Island FM took to the airwaves in the early 90s, we’ve been a big fan of Guernsey’s commercial radio station. And it seems we’re not alone. More than half the island tunes in each week, and as a proportion of the population it’s one of the most successful radio stations in the British [...]

The music of the night…comes to Guernsey

FINAL YPG LOGO CMYK

This autumn, Things To Do Guernsey is bringing the West End to Guernsey for a very special night in aid of an extra special good cause. On Friday 23 September we’ll be bringing St James Concert Hall alive for “Music Of The Night – The Songs Of Andrew Lloyd Webber” in aid of new local charity Young People [...]

This month we’re stepping out with the latest looks from Clobberbox and Saiko. As Guernsey’s students are taking their next step to uni, we thought they’d better do it looking great by flying the flag for the great fashion available on the island. We left no stone unturned to decide on the must-have looks as summer turns to autumn…

I’m so so lucky. We all are. I have had an entertaining month, to say the least. We’ve had an adorable student staying with us, my husband’s great niece Amee. She is one of those youngsters that has determination and spirit and wants to be her own person, even if it goes against what we [...]

Wall Light

Blinded by the light A window is wonderful – but get a black-out blind for sun glare if you’re computer-bound. A small behind Small desk? For me, the ideal is a “dumping” shelf or ledge behind your chair: un-filed overspill builds – this keeps it off your work area. Little light Wall-mounted lights free up [...]

Fancy a cocktail

Fancy a cocktail

When I was (much) younger this dating lark was simple. You went to your local bars and clubs…wore your best dress, plastered on the lippy and made a play for the best looking man in the room. Usually it did not take long for a date to follow…you went out for lunches and dinners, met [...]
