After a busy time of year, you would forgive those involved in the retail industry just putting their feet up on Christmas Day and doing nothing. GBG visited Melodonia and asked three of the team about their festive routine.

NAME: Ian Lavenne

(a) Christmas Day is one of the few days when we get the whole family together and we all go out for lunch and, yes, I enjoy traditional turkey. Eating out is a less stressful and we can all relax.

(b) Occasionally I do but most of the time, after we’ve been out for a meal, I’ve fallen asleep! I don’t make a big issue of having to watch it but I don’t turn it off if it’s on.

NAME: Mark Lucas

(a) I love traditional Christmas Day turkey but this year, for the first ever time, we are on holiday. We are in South Africa visiting my in-laws so it will be a barbecue instead.

(b) Yes, I would normally watch it but I won’t this year because we are away from the island.

(c) Normally I spend the day with the whole family opening presents but this year, because it is my son’s first Christmas, I’m sure I’ll be playing lots of games and stuff.

NAME: Mark Brehaut (Pancho)

(a) We always have turkey. I cannot imagine eating something different because turkey is traditional. It’s what you do and I don’t see any reason to change.

(b) I always watch it because it is part of the tradition of Christmas.

(c) I watch a little bit of television but we don’t play games. If there’s something to watch on television in the evening, that’s great, but it’s normally a quiet day.
