Travelmaker in Ibiza

This month we welcome the team from Travelmaker to the pages of GBG Magazine.  Each month they’ll be giving us the inside track on a different holiday destination as well as an exclusive reader offer, we’ll have some expert travel tips, and a competition for you to win some exciting prizes.  We start with a look at Ibiza.

A BALEARIC BEAUTY

The third largest of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza has it all.  With beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear water and its sleepy villages surrounded by stunning countryside, there is something for everyone. Ibiza enjoys Mediterranean weather with mild winters and hot summers.

San Antonio is a clubber’s paradise with big name clubs such as Pasha, Space, Amnesia and not forgetting Ibiza Rocks Hotel, which opened in 2008 and is home to all its own gigs. You may even rub shoulders with the rich and famous with big names playing  such as David Guetta, Pete Tong and Judge Jules to name but a few.

About 10 years ago I had a lady in her early 70s come in to enquire about a holiday to Ibiza, noticing my look of surprise she calmly told me that she wasn’t too old for a wet t-shirt competition. After I had choked on my apology she laughed and told me that she was only joking but that there was more to the island, a reminder to me that Ibiza is so much more than your clubbing capital!

Santa Eulalia is described as a cosmopolitan town; Portinax has an original hippy market every Sunday.  Playa d’en Bossa is a growing resort where everything is aimed at tourists and foreign visitors are well taken care of. Ibiza town is the island’s capital and is a beautiful old well preserved town which is definitely worth a visit.

From couples to families there is a wide range of accommodation to suit all tastes. From self catering apartments to 5 star hotels all you need to do is choose where you want to be.

For more excursion ideas why not try horse riding at Cala Llonga or a boat trip to the Island of Formentera. There are glass-bottomed boat trips, Wild West evenings or the Aguamar water park located in Playa d’en Bossa to keep you entertained and much more.

Alternatively not hire a car and explore the island yourself!
